Power Testing

$100.00 ($50.00 for re-test within 6 months)

Power Testing for cyclist is an objective, physiologic test used to measure cycling fitness and ability whether you train with a power meter or not. Testing can serve as a baseline measurement in the beginning of the season. From this initial assessment, training plans can be developed. This initial test enables you to set your power training zones if you train and race with a power meter. In addition, retesting can measure periodic improvements in fitness, diagnose and pinpoint strengths and weaknesses by profiling your results relative to other cyclist, and serve to re-establish your power training zones.

KMT uses the "Threshold Test" designed by Hunter Allen and Andrew Coggan. The results from this test establish your functional threshold power and heart rate relative to your lactate threshold. Lactate threshold is the point where muscle demand exceeds energy supply. This physiological parameter is the single most important determinate of cycling performance. Following the test, all results will be explained and you will receive a copy of your results and power profile. Your power profile can be your guide to determine realistic goals and expectations since it will highlight your strengths and expose your weaknesses.

What is Your Power Profile?

During a cycling Power Test, an athlete's results are measured in watts. These watts are a absolute measure of the cyclist's power. The number of watts are divided by the cyclist's weight (in kilograms). The results are now expressed in watts per kilograms or w/kg. The Power Profile Chart uses w/kg to quantitate their relative power and compares them to other cyclist.

By crafting an athlete's power profile (developed by Andy Coggan) strengths and weaknesses are discerned from training and racing data. Training may be modified to address weaknesses whereas strengths may be exploited in racing and aid in goal setting.

I enjoy using the Power Profile chart because it can offer objective feedback concerning the subject's genetic profile as well. Success in shorter efforts compared to longer efforts may reveil that the athlete has more fast-twitch muscle fibers than slow-twitch muscle fibers. Having possession of this data can be useful because as a coach, I can suggest that my client may be better suited for short distance triathlons and/or running and cycling events.

Body Composition & Analysis

$35 (includes re-test within 6 months)

Body composition measurement and analysis is used to determine your percentage body fat (%BF) and lean body mass (%LBM). These values are determined by assessing your subcutaneous fat at three pre-determined body locations measured by skin fold calipers. The results are used to calculate your %BF and %LBM relative to your gender and age group. Depending on the results, an exercise and diet plan can be implemented to optimize your fat to muscle ratio for impro

ved fitness and healthier outcomes.

Posture Analysis

$50

You will be photographed in front of a posture grid.  These pictures will enlighten you and provide awareness to your current posture.  KMT will offer suggestions and recommend corrective exercises to improve your posture, reduce injury potential, and increase performance. "Faulty posture equals fault movement."
