What is a Healthy Lifestyle?

The reason lifestyle is so important is because your choices often determine how healthy you are.  You are defined by these lifestyle choices and responsible for the ultimate effect they have on your health.   Some typical components of a healthy lifestyle include not smoking, eating healthy foods, regular exercise, keeping the body at a healthy weight and having an optimal percent body fat, limiting and handling stress, etc.  Changing these habits will take time, will-power and determination, however, the rewards for making these changes are endless.

 

You are reading this because you have decided it is time to re-evaluate your priorities and decide what you really want for yourself.   Staying in an unhealthy lifestyle means you can avoid expending energy, time and effort...but at what cost? Living a healthy lifestyle means spending time and energy on your mind and body--moving in a healthy manner, paying attention to what you eat and drink, and devoting time to the "YOU" in yourself.

 

As humans, we like our habits and routines.  We often keep doing the same things even when we know they are not good for us.  Changing these bad habits takes time and effort.  For a healthy lifestyle, you may be required to change a variety of things and get out of your comfort zone.  That is why in the beginning it is so difficult and often overwhelming.  To improve your compliance, initial changes should be small, achievable and progressive, always keeping in sight the larger goals ahead. Therefore, when preparing to make any lifestyle changes, they should be realistic with a mindset of keeping them permanent by building off past accomplishments.

 

The first step toward change and improvement is awareness.  I will help you assess your current life-style choices and habits that are affect your current health.  With a better insight and understanding, I will make suggestions to establish reasonable goals and recommendations to increase your health, how you feel, and improve your chances of you succeeding.  One of the main components of a lifestyle modification program must include regular physical activity.   Participating in a regular exercise program should be fun.   I will determine your physical needs as indicated by your daily activities and personal desires to design a safe exercise training plan which will be developed specifically for you.  

 

Communication and education play a key role in understanding the importance of balance in your life and the type of physical activities required to achieve your ultimate goals.   Your relationship with your CHEK exercise coach is important and will increase your chances to succeed.
